The Allotment Wife

The world’s smallest lettuce

So it’s official. We’ve now been welcomed to Allotment World by the Allotment Committee – who call themselves the Allotment Police, though so far they’ve not been the least bit scary – quite the reverse in fact. Everyone’s been incredibly kind, so I hope they’ll keep smiling through all the newbie questions we’re bound to ask, and the things we don’t know yet.

What is scary though is the fact that, apparently, this September they are going to hold their first ever Allotment Society competition. Ooh-err, no pressure then!! I fear we will be very late to the fray in terms of preparation, so I’m planning to go for The World’s Smallest Lettuce. It’s the only thing we have a chance of being placed in, so far. Alas, I suspect it won’t be a category when the competition rules appear …
